Free The Children

I remember one day during Grade 10 English my teacher brought in a video to show the class. The video we watched was inspiring to say the least, for me, it completely blew my mind. That video was a documentary about a 12 year old boy from Toronto named Craig who decided to become a children’s rights advocate after coming across an article about the murder of 12-year-old Pakistani factory worker Iqbal Masih. Iqbal had lost his life trying to speak out against child labour. Craig started a movement in a stand against child labour that later grew into a world class youth aid organization. Years later Free The Children has flourished into a large humanitarian movement and has helped thousands of children around the world.

You can see firsthand the amazing work Craig and his team at FTH do by watching this short video. Enjoy!

Free The Children is an international organization and youth movement founded by 12 year old Craig Keilburger in 1995. Since 1995 the charity has grown in leaps, specializing in sustainable development in countries of India, Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, China and beyond. One of the charity’s main goals is educating young people about the various perils faced by youth in 3rd world countries and bringing social awareness to the topics of child labor, hunger and poverty.
